September 2021 Net Worth

It’s the end of September so you know what that means!!! Another Net Worth Update!!! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

Going forward, these will 100% be quarterly. I like it better that way since I don’t really want to look up the numbers every single month. Also, I can update the house value in this crazy-ass market better this way as well. So, without further ado, let’s get to it.

Last time we were here:

Now: June 2021: $394,000/$108,000

Back then, we had just maxed out my 401K and were contributing more to index funds. I did not update the house value since I didn’t want to screw with that too much, but going forward it will be updated for every update. So, where are we now:

Now: September 2021: $485,000/$135,000

An increase of $90,000/$26,000. Just…wow. The original stretch goal of $450,000 has been surpassed and then some.

Now, a lot of this is the home value has gone up by over $60,000 since the last time I updated it. And this is with me still estimating on the low end of the market. This market is insane.

Aside from that, we have been increasing the amount to index funds, taking part in the employee stock program at my company, and paying down the mortgage. Great growth all around.

One fun thing to note: During this time, I only had three paychecks. Meaning that from June to the end of August, I only got paid three times. Mr. FOGA was getting paid biweekly which made everything manageable, but we pay pretty much all our bills with my paycheck. Good thing too since, Mr. FOGA is an official househusband now. πŸ™‚

Financial Independence Milestone: BennyFI

Over $30,000 invested.

Between just our index funds, employee stocks, and IULs we have over $30,000 invested. I only use these accounts since they are the only ones we have without age restrictions. The IRAs and 401Ks cannot be accessed until we are 59.5 so, we don’t include those in this factor. Although with just my 401K, I should be a millionaire without contributing another penny.

The next stop is VacayFI, which is $50,000+ net worth.

My updated stretch goal last time was $500,000. I am going to up that to $550,000 given the everything that is going on now. Let’s see if we make it.

Time for another drink. πŸ˜‚

How are you doing on your net worth? Hitting your goals so far?

  1. I don’t even know what goals are reasonable to set from year to year. I have overall big goals that I’m working on revising into manageable increments but the market is so wacky it’s going to take some work to figure out what makes sense. That said, I kind of figure if there is upward momentum, that’s a good.

I missed it, what does BennyFI stand for?
