It’s Okay to Not Be Okay

Seriously. It really is.

I feel like a lot of people are trying to play like this is not an incredibly stressful time to be alive right now. I find this a little ridiculous. Just off the top of my head in the last 1.5 years, there have been wildfires all around, World War 3 scares, Covid & the Pandemic, Black Lives Matter (always this for me), 2020 Election, January 6th Attack on the US Capitol, Winter Storm Viola (Feb 15-20th), Haiti’s president was assassinated & then a massive earthquake hit, the Taliban conquered Afghanistan, Texas has bypassed Roe vs. Wade, AND some areas of the US (like Florida where I live) seem to want covid to spread even more. Oh! And they confirmed that UFOs are real, and we were so overwhelmed we were like, “whatever.”

Basically, we have had a lot of shit thrown at us. Yet, we are still expected to go to work and act like everything’s cool. Well, everything is not cool, and you are allowed to not be okay with that. You are allowed to be angry. You are allowed to be sad. You are allowed to feel whatever it is you feel, because (spoiler alert) you’re going to feel it even if you are in denial about it. At least by acknowledging it, you can take steps to cope.

So, this has been your disclaimer. The world is crazy. You are human. It is absolutely okay to not be okay right now.

    1. My thought process on UFOs was, “They haven’t attacked and we aren’t in any position to fight should they come so no point in worrying about that. If they do come and they can help with “the everything” happening right now, that would be nice. :-)”

What we need at this point is something HUGELY good to offset some of the bad shit. Like announcing UBI or universal healthcare in America. Highly unlikely/impossible I know, but if that did happen, I think a lot of people’s brains would start to enter cool-down mode.

      Thanks for reading!
