This is Not Over Yet
I was planning on writing about something else, but this seems to take precedence in my head. I literally could not write anything else until I got this out. So, I’m going to have my rant, and you are welcome to stick around if you like.
As you should know by now, the CDC has decided that vaccinated people need not wear masks anymore, and only unvaccinated people need to. This is a beautiful idea if you are naïve or stupid enough to believe that people will do what they are supposed to do.
These are the same people who couldn’t be bothered to wear masks when it was a mandate. The ones who got belligerent and violent with those who wore masks. The same ones who have gaslit people for over a fucking year about how we’re the crazy ones. We wear a mask to protect THEIR sorry asses, and they cannot be bothered to the same for us.
Kids under 12 cannot get vaccinated. There are new variants spreading that we don’t even know if the vaccine will work against. Hell, getting the vaccine does not even mean that you cannot get covid. It means that you are less likely to get it and, if you do get it, it should not be as severe. And while it may be less likely, vaccinated people can also spread covid. But sure. No masks. The honor system in this country of selfish and entitled people will work VERY well I am sure. Forgive my rage/sarcasm, but if you genuinely believe this is going to work, I have a lovely bridge I would like to sell to you.
I got vaccinated as soon as I could find a place available in Florida, and I am still over a week out from being fully vaccinated. Companies have already stopped requiring people to wear masks in their business, including my job. I had to get permission to require people without masks to be six feet away from me. All this when the country is barely 50% vaccinated. It is highly unlikely that the US will ever reach herd immunity since a large number of people refuse to get vaccinated.
Millions of people have died, and more are dying every day. So many countries are suffering horrific outbreaks right now. And the CDC had the fucking audacity to go to the honor system at this point. Well, I think Kalen said it best:
It’s been intense silent screaming since the CDC pulled that nonsense. Because RLY. I mean, you already said it all already so I can just holler in solidarity.
I don’t understand the timing of their message. Just wait a couple more weeks for more to get vaccinate, get kids through the school year, and then maybe open things up a bit for summer. This feels quite rushed.
It makes no sense. And what kills me is Fauci is 100% behind this. If anyone should know how untrustworthy this country is at this point it’s him. I just…I can’t even.
