June Goals Update

Hello FOGA Readers! Happy July and welcome to the June Goals Update. 🙂

Let’s get to it.

June Wrap Up

One awesome point: No one was sick this month. Not even for a little bit. It’s crazy!!!

We visited Mr. FOGA’s dad for Father’s Day/his birthday. Got to meet his puppy. I have now confirmed that puppies are exhausting but cute to visit. Like kids. She got lots of love on twitter.

She’s so fluffy!

We met up with friends and played Dungeons and Dragons. We lived. Somehow. It’s a three-person party with a druid, a bard, and a wizard (Mr. FOGA is the dungeon master). We call ourselves the Glass Cannons; we hit hard, but can’t take a hit. No one has died, so we’re going to call that a success. 😀

Aside from that, it was a pretty regular month. Work, home, etc.

Work Update

The job was good as far as sales go this past month. Sold four homes and had five homes close. This is going to lead to at least one good paycheck in July. Unfortunately, one of my closings got pushed, so there will only be one paycheck for me in May. Still, it’s a pretty good month even if it was slow.

I had more issues with that same company from last month. They screw up something incredibly simple and led to me nearly losing another sale ($3500). Managed to work it out with my boss and switch things around, but it’s ridiculous how many of these fires we have to put out.

Mr. FOGA is hanging in there at his job. It is significantly less stressful for him now, but still time-consuming. Not sure how it’s going to work for him as far as certifications go. He may be looking at switching to part-time. We’ll know more in a few weeks.

My Favorite Post in June: I Have An Announcement: We’re Worthless Now!
This was just awesome. I have been following Moriah and her family’s journey to get to positive net worth since I started blogging. Great day to see her get to be “worthless”. lol
Now we get to watch the climb to $100,000. She’s got this.

I was blessed to have Radical FIRE write a guest post about how she lives in 160 square feet. It was awesome, and I am super thankful to her for writing it.

Goals for June

June was a fantastic month financially. I am still in amazement of how much our net worth grew.

So how did I/we do overall?

  • Keep a $0 Credit Card Balance. PASS!!! Paid off and earning points! All the points from our Amex card goes towards a Carnival cruise. 🙂
  • Stay Under $450 for Eating Out. FAIL! By $16. LOL. So close. Not bothered by it though. It was definitely helpful for me mentally and kept me sane. Mr. FOGA is adamant that I not feel bad about this, so I’m sticking with that.
  • Clean Out My Closet. PASS! I sorted through everything and gave a good amount of clothes away to a friend. Now I need to decide what to do with the excess. Thinking about selling some of it, but I think I may be too lazy to manage it. Thoughts?
  • Put $3500 in each of our IRAs. PASS!!! Only $1000 more to go to max out both our IRAs. $500 each. Crazy to think that a few months ago I was complaining about how little we had put in this year. Maxing out the IRAs in July!!!
  • Read One BookFAIL! Made it halfways through a manga. Read a bunch of blog posts from others. (Check out Liz at rosecoloredwater.com if you haven’t already.) No completed books though.
  • Work Out Once A Week. FAIL! Should have known better. On one hand, I was more active towards the end of the month. Walking more and doing more. On the other hand, I did absolutley nothing that anyone would consider a workout. Still much better than struggling to get out of bed though, so I guess I shouldn’t complain.

Blog Goals for June

  • Post Once a Week. FAIL! Ended June with five posts on a month with five Sundays. So that’s a no on any counter. Still, I am pretty proud of writing three posts in one week. Most I have written in a short amount of time. Also, Radical Fire was crazy helpful with writing a guest post for me.
  • Get One Week Ahead on Posts. FAIL. Nope. Not at all. This is going to stay here and be a stretch goal.
  • Equal or Beat May Monthly Views. PASS! April views were beaten as well. 671 views! 🙂 Thank you so much!!!
  • Track Twitter & Pinterest Growth.  1021 followers on Twitter (WOOHOO) and 295 on Pinterest as of my writing this. 😀
  • One Year of Blogging. This is coming up at the end of the month. Have given more thought to it. I am tempted to do a post with similar aspects to what financial mechanic did with her one-year blogiversary (really good post btw). Still mulling it over.

Goals for July

I have been working on most of this already for the month, and this is a reminder to get it into gear for me.

Only had one paycheck this month but should be a good one. 🙂

Also, have the work cruise this month as well (writing some of this post from our stateroom in Key West. Much easier to write with pretty water views).

  • Keep a $0 Credit Card Balance. Been doing well with this. Thinking about taking this one off unless we end up carrying a balance.
  • Stay Under $500 for Eating Out. This is me being optimistic. We have eaten out a fair amount already due to going on vacation. No point cooking and then the food going bad. Also, we started a thing where when I sell a house we go to my favorite restaurant for happy hour. It’s been fun so far. 😊
  • Max out our IRAs ($1000 total). $1000 left to max out both our IRAs. That’s it. From $12,000 to $1000 is awesome. So excited to cross this goal off the list.
  • Put $3000 in Our Emergency Fund. Now we start focusing on getting our emergency fun to $30,000. This would put us at $4,200 left to max it out.
  • Read One Book. Time to finish something. Work Optional, my Black Butler Vol 5 Manga, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck. Don’t care which, but got to finish something.
  • Work Five Times This Month. Been consistent with the overall walking more, but not so much on the actual working out. Will be working on this. Not sure why five 30-minute sessions in a month keep kicking my ass, but hoping to rectify that this month.
  • Figure Out What to Do with the Excess Stuff from the Closet Cleaning. Have some excess clothes. Some still have the price tags I am sad to say. I was mentioned to me that just donating them is a waste. Not sure where I would sell them though. Any suggestions?

Blog Goals for July

  • Post Four Times this Month. So far this makes two. Only two more to go. 😊
  • Get One Week Ahead on Posts. My stretch goal. We’ll see how it goes.
  • Equal or Beat June Monthly Views. Aiming to beat the current all-time high of 671. Let’s see how we do.
  • Track Twitter & Pinterest Growth. Made it to 1000 since my last post. Not even sure where it may end up by the next one. Since I am aiming to post on time, it will probably not be a huge amount of growth. As for Pinterest, I need to devote some more time to it.
  • One Year of Blogging. One year of blogging post is coming!!! Working on something for the end of the month.

June Goals Update

In Summation

And that was the June Goals Update! I hope you enjoyed it. 😊

I seem to have developed a habit of posting this in the middle or towards the end of the month. Will need to work on that.

How was your June? Did you get your goals accomplished? Let me know in the comments.

Until Next Time!

    1. Thanks! We used to do it, but then I got all conscious about money and stuff. It was pointed out to me that it was silly to stop doing stuff we enjoyed since we could afford it and it made us happy, so…..Happy Hour!!!
Also, you’re welcome! I’m really happy for you making Zero Day!!! Now I get to watch the growth to 100K. 😀

  1. Yasss that sounds like a good month with many blogging records broken, well done! Lol you’ve read one book this month, just not one book until the end. I think that counts for something! And I think we’re having the same goal of working ahead with posts, I have it for 3 months already on the list – it’s a stretch goal indeed.

Thanks again for hosting the guest post, I loved writing it and it was an amazing opportunity
Congrats on your almost-one-year-of-blogging, looking forward to your post!

  2. Oh my gosh she is adorable! But so much work. Motley just threw up on my bed last night. I never let him sleep on my bed, but of course – the one time I do, he gets sick (and this rarely happens!). It’s exhausting. Now I’m running on empty. Thank the Lord it’s pre-Friday Friday! Glad the summer is going much better for you than spring did! 🙂
