December 2022 Net Worth
Happy New Year!!! It is 2023 and we have made it to another year!!! Congrats!!!
Since September, we’ve been moving along. Our renters have moved in and are doing well. I’ve also had all the homes that I sold at the beginning of the year (Jan-Mar) finally close. Not a bad time financially. So, how did we end 2022?
Then: September 2022: $671,000/$221,000
Back in September, we increased entirely due to the rental property closing. That jumped us up by $58,000 on both totals. We also hit a milestone that I wasn’t expecting which is that all our assets alone equaled over $1,000,000.
Since then, we have hit our charity donation goal for the year, I made beyond my income goal for the year, and we paid down the house to under $150,000 ($149,999.99, and yes this was 100% on purpose).
So, where are we now?
Now: December 2022: $708,000/$273,000
We made the year’s goal!!! Hooray!!!
This time we went up by about $37,000 and $52,000 in the two categories. The real estate was actually not helping us this time and went down a combined total of $20,000 between our house and our rental. The employee stocks, 401Ks, IRAs, etc carried us to the finish line. I also managed to get paid fairly consistently this quarter which is rare. With the last paycheck (on the 30th) we managed to max out our IRAs for 2022. 🥳
Financial Independence Milestone: FoodieFI
Between just our index funds, employee stocks, and IULs we have just north of $90,000 invested. Again, while some of our stuff started trending up again, this is mostly due to company stock.
A reminder: We only use these accounts (index funds, employee stock, & IULs) since they are the only ones we have without age restrictions. The IRAs and 401Ks cannot be accessed until we are 59.5 so, we don’t include those in this factor. Although with just my 401K, I should be a millionaire without contributing another penny (assuming it doesn’t go down too far this year).

But, we made the goal!!! That deserves a treat, so I’m gonna go play Cyberpunk 2077. Later chooms! 😁
