It’s About To Get So Much Worse
We have hit a new point in this pandemic: My boss has actually started encouraging people to get vaccinated and is requiring that we all wear masks, regardless of vaccination. This is the same person who has not taken any of this seriously AND has insisted on multiple “team-building” events this year. For this person to reach this point means that some shit has just gotten real in their world. Quite honestly, this is probably the most worried I have been all year.
Living in Florida during Covid has been an event, to say the least. Watching other states treat Covid as seriously as it should be treated, while people here spout about their freedom to do as they please. Plus, we have had plenty of people from other states move here for the lower home prices and the “freedom” we offer. 🤦🏾♀️ While the mask mandates were active, this was bad but tolerable. Since they have been removed, things have gone to hell. And, of course, Desantis is actively fighting mask mandates. “Governor Who” indeed.
School is about to start here without mask mandates. Covid cases here have been skyrocketing and we have more kids in the hospital with covid than any other state. If changes aren’t made, late August and September will be absolutely horrendous here. I know this and so does anyone here with any amount of brain cells. Yet, to hear my boss essentially agree with that just drives home how bad this is about to be. 🙁
I’ve been away for a while (except for 3 days in Orlando last week) and I don’t feel a particular urge to return south and actually live in my own home anytime soon. Sucks to be paying a mortgage for a house you don’t (and don’t want to) live in, but alas here I am.
I don’t blame you. It’s nonsense here. Stay away until at least the third week of school if you can. Then we’ll have a better idea of how horrible this is going to get. 🙁

I remember when Fauci said that the end was near… Yeah, the end of phase 1 of COVID. Now comes phase 2 with another lockdown!
Yeah, that was assuming everyone wasn’t idiots. I am much less of a believer in the good of people as a whole than the people in power, with, apparently, good reason. What a shitshow.

I’ve been so worried for y’all that I know in Florida. The fact that even someone who has been as careless as your boss had changed their tune definitely makes me wonder how much worse it’s going to get. It’s so surreal, knowing how bad it is there and seeing how different it is in each state. I don’t know how to cope with the emotional roller coaster anymore, it’s just too much. And it’s hard to know that we now can’t even fixate on a possible end because we HAVE vaccines for adults, and yet… here this is the landscape. Ugh.
