Bucket List 2019

Hello FOGA Readers! Once upon a time, I wrote a bucket list and posted it here. There I documented things that I wanted to do and places I wanted to go. It was a fun list for me to make and helped me narrow down somethings that we wanted to do.

Since it’s been nearly a year, I think it’s time to update the list. Some things did get done. πŸ™‚ Other things not so much, but we are working on it. There will be notes on progress if it’s something we are actively working towards. All the updates are italicized.

So, without further ado, let’s see the updated bucket list:

Financial:

  • Be debt free: Nearly Done!
  • Buy an investment property
    • This is probably 2-3 years out.
  • Pay off our mortgage early
    • We refinanced and knocked a few years off & switched to a conventional loan. May refinance again depending on what happens with the homes for sale in our neighborhood.
  • Invest $100,000
    • Starting investing (outside of IRAs and 401Ks) in September ideally.
  • Be financially independent
    • What the blog is all about. Going to be a journey.

Travel:

This is one of the big things I want to do once financially independent, so it gets a lot of the space here.

St. Marteen
  • St. MarteenDone!
    • We went and it was a beautiful island! Loved it and would definitely go back.
  • France
    • Specifically, I want to go to Nice, Marseille, and Paris. I have been too Paris, but I want to go with Mr. FOGA this time.
      • We are making plans to go to France next year! πŸ˜€ More on this later.
  • Sandals Vacation
    • I like the idea of the all-inclusive resort. Been looking at it a lot this month, and the pricing is not as bad as I thought (depending on the resort).
      • The pricing is terrifying. I don’t know what I was looking at last year, but wow. It would be about $5000 for us to go for seven days. Since I’ve heard nothing but good things from people who have gone, we’re planning this for our fifth anniversary. That’s in 2021 so we’ve got some time to save up.
  • Hawaii
    • They have black sand beaches and volcanoes. That’s awesome!
      • I stand by this.
  • Italy
    • Rome, Sicily, Venice, and Pompeii are just a few places I want to go.
  • Greece
    • Athens mainly.
    • I am adding Ithaca. For some reason, I never knew you could visit Itaca and now I want to go.
  • Andorra
    • Andorra is a small European principality that is landlocked by France and Spain. It’s not a part of the EU, but the euro is its main currency. It is one of the smallest countries in the world. For some reason, I am fascinated with this place.
  • Ireland
  • New York
  • Tahiti
  • Australia
  • Japan
  • China
    • I want to see the Great Wall of China.
  • Alaska
    • I want to see the northern lights.
  • Mediterranean Cruise

Activities/Fun Things to Do

All the personal ones are getting moved here since it makes more sense to me that they be here now.

  • Skydiving
    • Mr. FOGA thinks I am crazy for this one. Still, want to do it.
    • Nope. Not even. I tried zip lining and that alone was terrifying. Therefore, I am not going to jump out of a plane. I know that about myself now.
  • Hot Air Balloon
    • I will stand by this though.
  • Parasailing over the beach
  • Skiing
    • I was actually born and partly raised in the Caribbean. Moved to Florida when I was relatively young. Long story short, I have never seen snow, but I have always wanted to go skiing.
  • Build a snowman
    • Please keep the Frozen lyrics to a minimum in the comments. This ties into never seeing snow.
  • Jet Ski
  • Go to Harry Potter World in Universal/ Islands of Adventure
    • I live in Florida and I have never been. That needs to be corrected.
  • Go Scuba diving
  • Cross country road trip
    • This would have to be planned out in detail, but I love the idea.
  • Live in another country for three months
  • Have a successful blog
  • Got a lot of work to do here
  • Learn a second language
  • Get in shape/ get fit
  • Find a hobby I enjoy
    • Blogging fits this. πŸ™‚
  • Write a book

That’s the updated bucket list. What do you guys think? Anything you want to do or somewhere you want to go? Let me know in the comments.

Next post will be on Tuesday. I apologize for the delay; it has been a very busy week at work.

Until next time!

  1. I feel like several of these could be done in quick succession. You live in Florida, so parasailing over the beach and jet skiing are just a quick drive to the beach away from being checked off. Scuba diving fits there too, but maybe go somewhere fun like the Keys to do it. Same goes for Universal Studios, it’s barely over an hour away from you.

    1. Hi Josh. Yes, they can. Going to be a fun few years of local stuff. Already have plans for parasailing in the next year. Universal is about $400 which is crazy to me, but that’s in there too.
      Thanks for reading!

  2. Maybe I’m crazy, but I think $5000 for two people at an all-inclusive resort sounds pretty reasonable! and what a romantic time it would be! I would totally do this!

Are you scuba certified? There are so many wonderful places to go scuba diving. I am certified, but it was about 10 years ago and I have never actually went anywhere to do it. It should also be on my bucket list!

I think you have a fabulous list here!

    1. Hi Liz. I am starting to learn that it’s not too much, but the first time I saw it I nearly had a heart attack. lol We are definitely going to do it for our fifth anniversary.
Not scuba certified, but want to want to become scuba certified. Seems like fun.
Thanks and thank you for reading!
