My Unplanned Side Hustle
I have a side hustle now. I never expected this to be a thing, but here we are. Considering how anti-extra work I am, it is truly one of the more surprising things I have done this year. All while dealing with the fun stress that was closing on the rental. How the hell did this happen?
It all started when a friend reached out on Twitter about how she needed someone to manage her invoices because she was not getting them done. Being the weirdo that I am, I actually enjoy anything involved with making invoices/ seeing how you get paid at the end of the day. My commissions’ tracker is freaking flawless. I think it’s the main reason working in real estate doesn’t give me as much anxiety as it should. So, I texted her and offered to help. She was 100% on board. And just like that, I am someone’s Invoice Manager. We’ve since gotten her caught up on over $1000 in outstanding incoming which is fantastic. 🥳 But, it doesn’t stop there.
Turns out there are other people in the same boat with this problem and said friend knows at least one. She shared about our setup and how it has been helping her and then all of a sudden I had another client. Referrals make a business. I now get to set up invoices to get paid by both of them which I, for some reason, think is hysterical. But, I am helping get people paid in a timely manner, and I am always here for that.
So yeah…I manage invoices for people now. I’ve gotten two clients within a week. Life’s going to be a little bit busier for me. Yay for extra income, fun with making invoices, and the future “fun” of figuring out how the hell to fill out a 1099 form.

(So maybe this is weird to ask or maybe you’d get it as a person who loves them, but if you don’t mind and it’s not weird to you, would you be willing to share a data-free ((or dummy data)) version of your tracker? I have a long running project at work that needs an improvement to the tracking spreadsheet that was thrown together but I’m drawing a blank on where it makes sense to tweak. Would love to see if yours jogs a bit of inspiration. Feel free to delete this bit!)
